You know, a lot of folks hear “smoothie” and automatically think healthy. I know I used to fall into that category. Until my daily Smoothie King Muscle Punch Plus habit came back to haunt me. And by haunt, I mean to cause me to endure an epic struggle to fit my rapidly expanding butt into my jeans.
It turns out, the healthy smoothie I loved was not doing my body any good. But this Keto Strawberry Smoothie is different. It’s 100% legit keto using a combination of coconut and almond milk, fresh or frozen strawberries, a little MCT oil, and vanilla.
Keto Strawberry Smoothie Recipe Ingredients
Chances are you have what you need to make this one in your fridge. And if you don’t, I’m going to add in an option B so you won’t have to make a trip to the store to get your smoothie on ASAP.
Coconut Milk
The first ingredient, coconut milk, has been linked to weight loss as it contains medium-chain triglycerides, also known as MCT’s. MCTs are easy to digest, making them easier to absorb so your body can use them for energy. Other benefits of MCT’s? Appetite control and increased energy.
If you don’t have coconut milk, you can use heavy cream. Heavy cream falls into the keto-friendly dairy category. It’s both low carb and has next to no lactose – the sugar that’s in milk.
Unsweetened Almond Milk
Almond milk has a creamy texture similar to milk but without the sugar. It’s the go-to alternative for folks who are allergic or intolerant to milk or following a vegan eating plan.
Strawberries
Strawberries are one of the few low carb and, therefore, keto-friendly fruits. Berries are a fabulous source of vitamin C and potassium and are antioxidant-rich – meaning they’re heart-healthy and help control blood sugar.
